Aaron turns 4!!!!

So Aaron's b-day was this past weekend. Ever since Michael's b-day he's been asking me almost every day when his birthday was. So it was finally here, which he was so excited about. So he LOVES spiderman right now (so like his dad), so that was the theme he chose. He wanted a spiderman cake, and I went to Walmart to look and the one they had was $20. Well, being the chepo I am, I decided I would try and make one. For future reference, Josh told me to buy the icing and not make it, cause he said it was gross. Oh well, we aren't big cake eaters anyway.

So the night before, after Aaron was asleep, Josh and I sat up and blew up over a hundred balloons. It took forever....j/k. We cheated and used Josh's air compressor. Thank heavens for that!! He woke up the next morning and opened his door, and there they all were. He loved it! Only that they kept popping and scaring him, so Josh gave him one of those gun ear muffs, and after that he was jumping up and down in them.

So after breakfast, I started frosting his cake. It took me 3 hours, and it turned out looking better than I hoped, but I'm not sure if it was worth my time. But it looked way cooler than the one from Walmart.

His party started at 1, and we weren't sure who all was going to show up, but he had 2 friends from the ward and his two cousins come, along with other family.

So I tried to organize a couple games with the kids, but they were more interested in just playing in his room with the toys, then playing games. But we did play "pin the web on spiderman's enemies" (like pin the tail on the donkey), and hide-and-go-seek, easter egg hunt, and a scavenger hunt. They had fun, though it was hard to keep them focused. We had cake and ice cream and then he opened his presents. Overall he had alot of fun, and at the end of the day he said, ok mom now it's going to be your birthday. I can't believe he is 4 now. He's been so excited for his birthday to come, and he keeps saying that when he turns five he can go to school. I hope he stays that excited for school in years to come.

I cant even handle how cute they all are! And when I called Aaron to wish him a happy birthday, he said "You need to come here and see my cake! It is awesome!" Seriously, quoting here. I think that cake turned out INSANELY good.
Props to JULEEN!

Wow, Juleen! That cake looks AMAZING! You are one cool mommy. :)

Oh, and even though you used an air compressor to fill up those balloons, I bet your fingers were numb from tying them all.

I'm glad that Aaron had such a Happy Birthday!

what a fun birthday! i love the balloons! branson's 4th bday party was the same way with the kids. i think next time i do one with them that young i will plan more time where they can just run around and play with something... like balloons. :) oh, and i feel the same way about all the fancy cakes i've made. they always take FOREVER and turn out so good. most of the time i pick the right theme and the kid appreciates it. but still... so much work. speaking of, lydia's bday is next week and i'm planning a doggie cake... wish me luck. :P
